Event #1: while completing operation 'make this house smell better' Zac was vacuuming and went to move the couch when he felt some wood sticking down. Next thing I knew the couch was flipped over and we were taking out the staples that held it together. Mission "make this couch stronger" began without me even realizing it. Since Zac is very particular we had to make a list of everything that we needed from Lowes to make this mission a success.
The list was this:
1. Staple gun
2. staples
3. wood screws
4. 90 degree wood thingy's (yes that is exactly what it said on the list- found out later it was an 'L' bracket)
Event #2: As we were walking out of the house Zac noticed that there was bubbles in the paint close to the door. Of course as soon as he walked away I had to poke at it. Unfortunatley my innocent poke sent water running down the wall. My first reaction was to yell out "there is water in there!!"..... "In where?"....... "ummmmm behind the paint, coming down your wall!" The next few words that came out of his mouth were along the lines of "oooh shoot!"
Extended list for lowe's:
5. Ladder (to get into the attic to see if the roof is leaking)
Event #3: I had previously thought that there might have been some mold downstairs in the bathroom so we went to check it out....all clear there. While we were down there we may as well check out the strom drain (if you don't know what that is consider yourself lucky!). At any rate there was water in the storm drain that was not going down (bad sign). So Zac being a manly man stuck his hand in the drain grabbing what appeared to be toilet paper. In the meantime I was walking in circles trying not to ralph (it was really gross). Of course when I told him I though it was TP he said "no honey, there is no way this is toilet paper... to prove that how about you go and flush the toilet." So I went up to flush and came running back down to find that I was RIGHT. The toilet water was coming back up through the storm drain!!! SICK...and really BAD news!
I'm usually a problem solver but in this scenario there was nothing I could do except convince Zac that he needs to call in a professional to fix it! Thankfully he listened and he has homeowners insurance so it should be fixed tomorrow.
As far as the couch and leak are concerned.....he is working on them currently. Let's just hope he doesn't fall through his ceiling while he is up in the attic or else we will have a LOT more issues on our hands!
